In this talk, I intend to present an overview of the technologies which are needed or are usefull when building a small (home) network. I shall be covering the following :

Basic Ethernet Hardware
TCP/IP Subnets
File sharing using nfs and/or samba
Internet connection sharing, squid and NAT/Masqueraiding
Firewalls
Broadband - ISDN, Cable Modems and ADSL
Dynamic DNS, Fixed IP's and remote access (ssh, vnc)
